Chelsea and Brittany Berges continue domination of NAIA track and field

TRACK & FIELD- 06/25/08:

Former OHS All-State Track & Field athletes Chelsea and Brittany Berges have continued their success in NAIA competition as members of the Oklahoma Christian University Lady Eagles track team.  They have finished 1-2 in the 100-meter hurdles at two events this season, the Southwest University Invitational and the Oklahoma Christian University Ray Vaughn Classic. Chelsea took the tape in both events.

Both girls have competed in the javelin throw, with both scoring multiple top 6 finishes.  In the discus, Brittany scored several top 7 performances with a best throw of 114ft while Chelsea had a number of top 6 places in the long jump with a best of 16'8".  At the Oklahoma Baptist Invitational, they finished 4th and 5th in the high jump as well.  They competed in one Heptathalon with Chelsea winning the event with a total of 3990 points, good enough for an unofficial 15th place ranking in National NAIA competition.  Brittany’s 2nd place score of 2876 gave her a 32nd

place spot on the NAIA national scorecard.

The Berges twins were multi-time state track meet qualifiers in the shuttle hurdle relay as part of Coach Steve Green’s Ottumwa High School girls track teams from 2003-2006.  Both are members of the OHS Bob Warren Hall of Fame in the 100-meter hurdles and the shuttle hurdle relay.

Sonics to move to Oklahoma City

NATIONAL BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION- 07/02/08:

The Seattle SuperSonics and the City of Seattle reached an agreement in their tempestuous Key Arena lease dispute on Wednesday (7/2), just hours before a U.S. District Court judge was to rule in the case.  Under the settlement agreement, Professional Basketball Club (PBC) LLC, an Oklahoma City investment group led by Clay Bennett, which purchased the Sonics last year, agreed to pay the City of Seattle $45 million in order to terminate the Key Arena lease.  In turn, the agreement will allow the Sonics to move to Oklahoma City immediately.
